Knife blocking

Very nice demonstrated from Grand Master Hatsumi, recent upholder and master of Ninjutsu Togakure-ryū Soke --
Knife defending is probably one of the most fundamental and essential aspects of ninjutsu. It is all a matter of "correct positioning, prior to correct moment" feeling your opponent, which isn't easily explained, especially by westerners. It is done through PSI psychic phenomenon, and empathy, gathering of energy, and intentions, which can be practiced in Sakkijutsu - the art of sensing intentions.
The other art is understanding the nature of distance. You must act and don't act based on how you understand distance from your opponent, and the moment it transpires. This is accomplished through understanding the moment, and the wavelength of the force between the radius and feeling it out. It isn't easily understood. Then positioning yourself, where you need to be, in that area which is blind to your opponent, and you are out of danger, on that instant. It is what many call - doing by looking like you aren't doing anything at all - This is also based on reaction timing. To move where you need to be at that moment, in that position in time, then act. React/move where you need to, to disable, or control the energy of the potential attacker, to shift the momentum in your favor, then disable your opponent.
Knife fighting or knife defending is extremely dangerous, because it is close combat, and the weapon is very small, but deadly. You have to be experienced in the realms of proper distance, and feeling your opponent out, and being able to react at a moment end. It also takes swift and effective reaction speed.
